This
recollection is from Steve and relates to an audition at Decca which
the band had undertaken prior to my involvement.
"My favourite memory of the Decca recording audition was:-
(Remember this is our first time in a recording studio.)
Me and Robin were told to turn our speaker cabinets towards the wall which we found
strange and the microphones were placed behind the speakers.
We had many questions and we were well out of our depth.
I was quite near to Mick who had recovered his composure by now. I think
Pete was in another booth nursing a saw jaw. As I said, I had many questions and I watched
Mick communicating with the control room. We all had headphones on which was really
bizarre for us.
Mick had decided that the headphones were a two way
communication device and was talking down them to the control room... and getting
answers.
